Sazerac Cocktail

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Sazerac Rye
  • 2 dashes Angostura Aromatic Bitters
  • 3 dashes Peychaud's Bitters
  • 1 barspoon Demerara syrup*
  • Legendre Herbsaint in an atomizer
  • Lemon twist for garnish

Instructions

Chill an Old Fashioned glass.

Fill a mixing glass with ice. Add Sazerac Rye, Angostura Bitters, Peychaud’s Bitters and demerara syrup. Give it a good stir until you see a nice chill on the outside of the glass.

With an atomizer filled with Herbsaint, spray all sides of the inside of the chilled glass.

Strain the Sazerac into a the glass. To garnish, peel lemon and rub the back of the peel on the sides of the glass and then fold it in half so you get the expressing of the oils into the drink.

Demerara Syrup: 1:1 ratio of Demerara Sugar and water, such as 1 cup sugar to 1 cup water. Combine in a saucepan over low heat and stir until dissolved. Allow to cool, transfer to a glass bottle and keep chilled.
