Elderberry Ginger Syrup

Quarantini, anyone? Elderberry syrup is taken to boost the immune system. This all-natural DIY recipe pairs elderberry with elderflower and ginger liqueurs to give cocktails a splash of nutrients! Swerve is a plant-based sugar replacement made with erythritol so making elderberry syrup at home means you can control the sugar content. Cheers!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups organic dried elderberries
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger or ground ginger
  • 1 cup Swerve Confectioners natural sweetener
  • 1/2 cup St-Germain elderflower liqueur
  • 1/2 cup Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, combine dried berries, cinnamon, ginger, Swerve and water over medium heat, stirring to combine. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.

Remove from heat. Mash berries and allow mixture to completely cool.

Add liqueurs and stir well. Transfer to a glass jar or dropper bottles. Keep chilled until ready to use.

For cocktails: Add a teaspoon or barspoon to anything from gin and tonics and vodka drinks to sangria or top with Champagne.
