Spiced Syrup

A holiday season must for imparting warm spice into cocktails!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 cinnamon sticks, broken in half
  • 5 allspice berries
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 star anise pod
  • 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns

Instructions

Combine all in a saucepan over medium heat but do not allow to boil, stirring to dissolve sugar. Reduce heat and simmer, about 3 minutes.

Remove from heat and allow to steep and cool, about 15 minutes.

Strain, discarding solids. Transfer to a glass bottle or jar with lid.

Keep covered and chilled for up to 1 week.
