The Starting Pistol

Joe Stinchcomb, the beloved head bartender locals call by name, has been shaking dozens a day since Saint Leo opened.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces Four Roses Bourbon
  • 3/4 ounce grapefruit juice
  • 1/2 ounce lemon juice
  • 1/2 ounce honey syrup (2:1 honey to water)
  • 1 teaspoon powdered sugar
  • 1 egg white
  • Angostura bitters for garnish
  • Grapefruit twist for garnish

Instructions

Combine bourbon, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, honey syrup and powdered sugar in a shaker filled with ice. Shake well. Strain off liquid, add egg white and shake again vigorously.

Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. Shake bitters on top of egg white foam. Serve with a grapefruit twist.

 

Make it skinny

Omit powdered sugar.
